The nation is focused on the presidential election.  While an equally important election is for members of the United States Congress.  It is more important than ever…here’s why.

There are significant issues facing the country.  Only 82 public laws have been passed by the current 118th Congress.  Infighting within both political parties, policy disagreements are moving Republicans further apart.  Just this week GOP House Speaker Johnson had to be rescued by Democrats to keep the government from closing.

The America people should want better.  Looking back to the 117th Congress when Democrats held both chambers and the presidency they approved 360 bills.  When the GOP had unified control of Congress, during the first two years of the Trump administration, they passed just one bill…an overhaul of the nation’s tax code. Other signed laws were symbolic or dismantling policies of the previous administration.  America, can we do better?

It seems voters give little thought to who represents them in Congress. To address the issues facing our nation we need Members of Congress who are willing to work together.  Willing to work with the President who outlined their approach to policy during the campaign.

Americans are unhappy with the job Congress is doing.  Gallup found in early September only 20% approved, 75% disapproved and 5% had no opinion.

Now is the opportunity to do something about it.  Look carefully at your congressional candidate.  Be certain they are willing to not only work for you but to put differences aside and work with the new President.
