Biden Was Easy On The Eyes, Hard to Watch Katy Britt
Last night was a memorable evening in the House chamber. President Biden entered swinging and he left glad handing — still talking to energized Democrats even as they turned the light down.
From the start, the President hit his opposition with right hooks, left hooks, jabs to the chin and body blows. He did it for well over an hour. He took on Trump and his supporters directly, calling out “his predecessor” early and often. He was ready from the get-go. In fact, he did not even wait until he was officially introduced by the Speaker to go on the attack.
Republicans hissed and booed at times and Biden gave them more and more. He was ready for Marjorie Taylor Greene. He took her Laken Riley pin and, then, held it up when he responded directly to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s taunt. His response was policy, not personal. It was a segue to telling his audience in the chamber to pass that compromise immigration bill.
He confronted House Republicans at nearly every point, on every point. Americans who watched and those who read or watch mainstream media — not the right wing networks and websites — know the differences between Trump/Trumpist/Republicans and his Administration. He called them out on protecting American democracy, not supporting allies across the world, abortion, health care, prescription drugs, civil right, inflation and the economy, immigration and taxes. He looked down at those six of the nine Supreme Court Justices attending and chided them for their decision on Roe v. Wade — telling them they are about to find out how much political power women have. He chided Trump and Republicans again and again on “retribution,” saying at one point “that’s not me.” He even caught a tired, sad and deflated Lindsay out of the corner of his eye and picked him up by picking on him. He told Republicans he knew they can read.
I can’t recall a President that combative in the House chamber, perhaps even that full of energy.
Maybe best of all, Biden ended his speech well after 10:30 playing with his age and the issue that has caused him so much damage. He said when he came to DC, he was attacked for being too young and now he is too old.
It was a great performance.
Katy Britt proclaimed herself to be America’s mom. She spoke from a kitchen, right where America’s moms belong — I guess. He hit all the cultural issues!! She was a dud. As a chief of staff for her predecessor, she was no dud at all. As a negotiator on the border she as not a dud. As American’s mom, she was a dud and her speech fell with a thud.
