Vote Buying

Oct 5, 2026

Do you think it’s right that President Trump is trying to buy votes using our government’s funds?  He’s not on the ballot…but that is exactly what he is doing…trying to save Republican control of the Congress and himself.  Really what’s behind that is Trump realizes he will face one more  impeachment if Democrats take over both Houses in January.  Is that a bad idea?

He is great at making promises but short on delivery.  Trump said middle-and lower-income Americans would get at least a $2,000 Tariff dividend.  Did you get yours?  A promise made in 2025 but not delivered.  Remember the DOGE dividend of at least $2,000 he proposed for taxpayers from Elon Musk’s DOGE saving?  Well, he never paid off on that one either.

Now that he’s telling Americans to “pretend” he is on the November ballot; he found he found a way to send more than 20 million people enrolled in Medicare Part B…$90.  Beyond that nearly 1 million people in 30 states who paid certain Affordable Care Act fees are to receive $500.

On September 9, 2026, Trump promised: “I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000.”  If this is to happen voters must elect a majority of Republicans to both houses of Congress.  The estimated cost is roughly $1.2-$1.35 trillion depending on the population estimate used.  Interesting that he did not call on Congress to pass legislation establishing the payment. This is real vote buying.

While on Trump’s promises, one deserves special attention.  “I will end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours.”  This was one of Trump’s clearest and most repeated 2024 campaign promises.  It has not happened.  Another particularly important promise was lowering cost of living.  The Washington Post’s September 2026 review found that prices had risen in five of the eight areas it examined where Trump had specifically promised lower prices, including some basic household costs.

Let’s not forget his 2024 campaign promise of a temporary 10% cap on credit card interest.  What happened to that one?  Most important to many is the promise to make housing more affordable.  There has been no comparable nationwide reduction in housing costs.  Protecting Medicare and making health care more affordable…how is that working out?

Besides his broken promises, and using government (taxpayers) money to buy votes…are those awful ads starring Trump himself…paid for with your tax dollars!

Enough said.
