Tomorrow

A new chapter in America’s history starts tomorrow.  It comes after a hard-fought presidential election.  Along with a Congress which could go out of control at any minute.  This commentary is written with the hope that President-elect Trump will begin this new chapter in a positive way.

He could begin by taking a second look at contentious policies.  Delivering a positive inaugural address with a vision for the future.

A significant majority of voters are opposed to many of the incoming administration proposals.

Trump could toss aside plans to drastically reduce “social safety net” programs, impoundment of funds, closing the Department of Education, replacing civil service workers with Trump believers, deporting undocumented immigrants without criminal records and ending birthright citizenship and a pardon for the January 6 criminals, to take Greenland and/or the Panama Canal with force.

Strong MAGA supporters need to be aware the country needs united.

Such an unexpected development could pay dividends on Capitol Hill.

Though it’s now quiet there House Republicans are barely hanging on.  The Freedom Caucus is unsettled.  Speaker Johnson and new Senate Majority Leader John Thune could form a new alliance to move a legislative agenda supported by all Americans.

The founders of our democracy could rest in peace knowing a new chapter in America’s history is being written.
