STATEHOUSE reports paint a picture of conflict & chaos of the just concluded legislative session…if you think this was bad…wait until next year…when members of the House  and some Senators will be running in new districts…and it is likely Tomblin, Thompson & Kessler will be running for Governor…again.

Sarah Palin could be in trouble with Fox News chairman Roger Ailes…New York magazine reports:  “Before Sarah Palin posted her infamous ‘Blood Libel’ video on Facebook on January 12, she placed a call….to Ailes…’Lie low, ‘he said. “there’s no need to inject yourself  into the story.”

By all accounts Governor [acting] Tomblin ended the legislative session in a strong position…19 of his 26 proposals…made it by the deadline…this is a sound send off for his campaign for Governor.

GOP candidates for Governor will take part in a beauty contest…at a two day state party meeting this weekend…leaders from across the state will get their first chance to size up the 8 candidates.

A Washington social institution is the Gridiron DinnerPresident Obama does have a sense of humor…at least on Saturday night…he said of Speaker Boehner:  “I’ve made a few jokes over the years about John’s unusual coloring.  I used to think that is was a tan.  But after seeing how often he tears up, I come to realize: That’s not tan.  That’s RUST!’

For a while it looked like the Republican primary for Governor…was going to be fueled by food…Ireland tweeted she baked cookies for GOP legislators…Bill Maloney passed out pork [sandwiches] at the Capitol…wonder what the others will cook up for the state meeting Friday & Saturday

…but the money is beginning to flow…Maloney has radio, direct mail and robo calls underway.

BACK TO WASHINGTON…as President Obama opened his remarks [it was reported by POLITICO] at the 126th anniversary Gridiron dinner…he cued the band, which struck up, “Born in the U-S-A!”

While the Legislature works on the budget…in an extended session…gubernatorial candidate Jeff Kessler is working on his campaign budget…a fundraiser is on tap for tonight at Power Alley Grill…in Charleston that is.

Important to Republican success at the polls…is the work done by County Chairs…Paul Hartling of Putnam County…has been named to lead the group.
