Political Tidbits…..

Jul 17, 2010

Saturday evening Tidbits…..the Legislative games are in full swing…..the House voted down Manchin’s proposal related to changing the law for a special election to fill the U. S. Senate seat…..at last check House Republicans were working to allow Congresswoman Capito to run both for re-election to the U. S. House of Representatives and U. S. Senate…..who knows where this will all end up…..but a court challenge is a potential.

Republicans are preparing for the 2010 election with Kanawha County Chair Melody Potter leading the way…..she organized an outstanding training session for her GOP candidates.

Obama seems to be counting on Bill Clinton to save Democrats in November….the former President it has been noted will have a leading role in the campaign…..earlier this week he lunched with The President and Warren Buffet to discuss the economy…..and his former Director of OMB was picked by Obama to replace his resigned OMB head.

Is there another Clinton for President campaign in the making…..that is Hillary.

Word is moving around political circles that former SOS Betty Ireland may make a run for Governor if Manchin moves to U. S. Senate…..that would be in the special election after Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin becomes Acting Governor.

Finally…..it is a good bet House Speaker Thompson is playing political games with Governor Manchin…..if there is a special election for Senate and Manchin runs….and wins…..Senate President Tomblin will be ahead of Speaker Thompson…..who has been on the road campaigning for two years.

PS…..don’t write off a primary in both parties for U. S. Senate.
