You Decide
(Editor’s note: New York Times columnist Ezra Klein Sunday wrote an Opinion piece “It’s Simple: Stop Enabling Trump’s Power Grab”. We considered posting it but due to the length decided otherwise. Since we have seen it mentioned in various newspapers, magazines & journals, we will summarize some of the reactions and post a link for you to read and decide.)
The column argues that Democrats in Congress should use the potential government shutdown to demand legislative action against President Trump’s “autocratic takeover” and erosion of the rule of law. Klein’s work has generated discussion, with reactions split between support and sharp criticism.
National Review criticized it saying “incomprehensible, this illogical, this contradictory”, with its editors claiming Klein started with one idea but talked himself out of it by the end. The Washington Monthly acknowledged Klein’s concerns about funding a corrupt administration but argues that a government shutdown would be a counterproductive strategy.
You decided…here is a link to read the entire piece.
