Coming Soon

Congress is set to return September 2nd.  If you thought, it had been anything but normal to this point…just wait.  The House was so unmanageable Speaker Johnson sent Members away days before the summer recess was to begin.  The Senate was “ordered” by President Trump to stay thru August to complete confirmation of his nominees.  And that did not happen.

During the recess Members who were gusty held Town Hall meetings…and they were confronted by unhappy constituents.  The rage was brought on by the passage of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” which is now known as the “Big Ugly Bill”.  So, Republicans are looking for a path to correct their wrongs.  Plus, Epstein files are disturbing citizens across America.

The House Oversight Committee has issued subpoenas for the Epstein files to the Justice Department and is seeking depositions from various individuals.  Senate Democrats are using a rarely invoked law, Section 2954 of Title 5 of the US Code to demand the release of documents from the Department of Justice.

Congress only has until September 30th to pass funding bills…or find a path to avert a government shutdown. The Senate has over 100 presidential nominations still requiring confirmation. These could be complicated and get in the way of budget and fiscal deadlines.

Trump knows the Epstein case could bring him down.  So could the results of the 2026 elections.  Rather than legitimately work to assure Republicans continue to control the House…Trump ask Texas Governor to create five new GOP seats.  That brings up the issue of gerrymandering and several other states are getting in that picture.

As if there will not be enough chaos when Congress returns in September President Trump created more by taking control of Washington, D. C. government and putting troops on the street.   Just wait until they stop a Member of Congress and question them…about who knows what…a taillight not burning!

Enjoy the rest of your summer…and being confused.
