Few had heard of The Tea Party in 2009, but it fully emerged on April 15, 2010, at rallies across the country. The Tea Party showed power and influence by an extraordinary turnout at over 750 rallies. It was thought the elites in Washington were manipulating the group. But the spontaneous level of support that went well beyond the elites.
People power is necessary to stop Donald Trump’s dictatorship. People are angry about the direction of his presidency. After only five months in office an estimated 5 million people participated in the first “No Kings Day”. On Saturday for the second time American people will protest in cities, small towns and public parks to send President Trump the second “No Kings” message.
The American people know how to respect a leader who was elected but refuse to crown a King.
American journalist David Brooks wrote in this month’s The Atlantic “American Needs A Mass Movement – Now”. He said, “the first step is to capitalize on the weaknesses at the core of the MAGA narrative. Our second task is to construct a vision of America that is more inspiring than MAGA’s. Finally, he wrote that a mass movement must be built around a vision.
The weakness of MAGA is obvious as it ignores everyday issues…healthcare, education, community investment and the growing high cost of living. And the necessary vision is to help Americans prepare for the AI age.
The foundation of this mass movement is established by the chant “No Kings”. The work ahead is to elect in 2026 a Congress that will stand up for democracy. And that assures the “want to be King” no longer disregards our Constitution, takes away freedom of speech and shreds our newspapers.
