For nearly 40 days we have witnessed the tearing down of our government, freezing funds, deleting agencies, firing faithful civil service employees. And it’s just getting started.
Elon Musk, who leads the DOGE, has been give almost unlimited power by President Trump to snoop around the government. Supposedly he is hunting for waste, fraud and abuse. Why would President Trump turnover his power to this unelected person?
The Trump/Musk team are purposely creating chaos to distract individuals, communities and states. Last week Trump took 76 actions and issued several significant statements. More chaos will be created by the cabinet Trump has assembled to obey his commands.
Where is the outrage from Members of Congress? The Constitution puts the “power of the purse” in their hands. This includes creating agencies & programs that help feed the hungry, take care of the sick and stand at the ready for any crisis. Why is every Member of Congress not in an uproar about the programs Trump/Musk are deleting?
If you want to truly make America great and protect our democracy Americans must contact their congressional representatives. Tell them a personal story how your family or community will be hurt. Bring these instants to life, make them real.
It’s time for Republicans to stand up to Trump and fight for their constituents. This is not the time to be afraid nor expect the Democrats to fight the battle alone. We need to ask our congressional representatives if complacency is worth their reputation? Is a congressional seat worth losing our democracy.
Since this post was written, The Washington Post reports Elon Musk’s is seeking access to a heavily guarded Internal Revenue Service system that includes detailed financial information about every taxpayer, business and nonprofit in the country.
