The 2028 presidential campaign started last night at 12:01 AM. Prior to the earth-shaking results of the midterm elections, one would expect the focus to be on Democrats thinking about a 2028 run. Republicans with close Trump ties were expected to consider running, but yesterday’s election results may have changed that. Phillipsbillboard plans to keep its eye on speculations and developments. Now that’s a tall order for a two-person shop…well see if we can keep up.
Both parties are already focused on their national conventions where the final selection of 2028 presidential nominees takes place. The Democratic National Convention is set for August 7-10, 2028. It is expected to be in either Boston, Denver or Philadelphia. The Republican National Convention is set for Houston, Texas but no date has been settled. After Texans turned out the Republicans yesterday…wonder if the convention location changes!
There was even some discussion of the 2028 race last night. On the Democratic side the Washington Examiner has an article today saying, “Ossoff fires starting gun for 2028 with rousing victory speech.” It has been obvious for some time GOP Senator Ted Cruz intends to be involved.
Democrats have a Denver gathering in nine days. You can bet Democrats exploring a presidential run will show up.
Finally, Phillipsbillboard will continue to share national news and opinions generated by outside publications. We will include pieces about known and potential presidential candidates, their policy ideas and other news.
