Let’s Pretend

Sep 10, 2026

President Trump gathered what few supporters he has last night to play “Let’s Pretend”.  They all charged to Dallas to pay their final respects to a dying presidency.  Before the final rites were pronounced on election day November 3rd, he asks the adoring friends to “pretend” that he was on the ballot.  Trump then offered a warning of a “communist” takeover that would destroy his nation.

The premise of this gathering was to convince his most loyal supporters, who often don’t vote in midterm elections, that he needs them in November.  Trump used a part of his two-hour speech to establish the Democratic party has been taken over  by crazed lunatics and radicals…that call themselves Democrat socialist…but are communists.  He and many of his chosen speakers spent time railing against socialism.

America already has a version of “socialism” but does not look like the traditional European or Soviet model.  The American model where capitalism remains, but government takes a larger role in providing basic services and reducing economic inequality.  In some form many policies already exist.  Social Security, Medicare, public schools, unemployment insurance, farm subsidies and government-funded infrastructure. They are operating within a fundamentally capitalist economy.  Basically, its capitalism with a larger social safety net and greater government involvement…not government ownership of the entire economy.  One could say that is why the word “socialism” causes so much confusion in American politics.

Leaving nothing to chance Trump attempted to buy the 2026 election.  He promised $5,000 to every adult citizen if Republicans control the House & Senate after the November election.  Of course, the $5,000 would be called the “Trump dividend”.  The payment would likely cost Mr. & Mrs. Taxpayers more than $1 trillion.  If the room had been full of normal Republicans who care about the national debt…you can imagine the uproar.

In playing “Let’s Pretend” little mention was made of the high cost of gas, rent and groceries.
