As our nation goes forward after experiencing the most controversial and consequential presidential election in our generation, three words must guide our path. Concern, hope and prepare.
We must be concerned and not sit on the side lines. Our concern is about what course the new leaders will follow. Will our concern be based on campaign rhetoric, Project 2025 or the individuals appointed to posts of significance? Will we be concerned enough to seek out information wherever we can find it? Information needed to think through its impact on the course of government. Will our concern cause us to join with others to express our opinions to representatives in Congress?
Our nation has always been full of hope and optimism. Hope built on the constitutional promise of “the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Now is the time to prepare. In today’s environment you cannot depend on the political parties. As a result, advocates are needed to work with established community & civic organizations. If necessary, form new ones. Problems cannot be solved by political campaigns. Citizens must come together and prepare to address the policies put forth by the new Administration or advanced in the 119th Congress.
Stay engaged.
