David Broder 1929-2011

Mar 9, 2011

David Broder is gone.

For those of us who follow politics and participate in the game it will never be the same.  He was famous for walking the precincts before an election to determine the concerns, hopes and outlook for the coming election.  I looked forward to those stores in The Washington Post.

I first met David Broder at a Bethesda dinner party when he was 37.  I recall that night and the discussion.  He became one of the most respected political correspondents to cover national politics for four decades.

He was always on hand for National Governor’s meetings.  Besides politics he had a real interest in the “laboratories of democracy” being incubated by the states.  Broder provided important insight.

Thank you, David.
