President Trump has us in a fix. All the while he sits at the resolute desk coloring maps, renaming Lake Ontario and contemplating a new name for an ocean. He has us in a trade war, a real war, an affordability crisis, deportation of our neighbors, fighting with a friendly country (Canada), out of hand inflation, making it more difficult to get healthcare, and ICE is on the street. He turned Washington into a “work zone”, knocked down part of The White House, cut down nearly 60 trees at East Potomac golf course for an overhaul and if the Kennedy Center does not bear his name, he will tear it down. It’s become clear the President use chaos and fear to govern. As Americans face Trump’s challenge to their right to vote and speak their mine, they must not stay silent.
It should be everyone’s goal to influence midterms November 3, 2026. This is the time for citizens to engage.
To help those wondering how they can engage, here you will find a few ideas. Make it your goal to get 5-10 other people to vote. This may be more powerful than arguing with 500 people online. Call or talk personally with family members, people who normally skip midterms, younger voters and people who have become discouraged and say “My vote doesn’t matter.” Don’t tell them who to vote for…just ask if they plan to vote in November.
The focus should be on turnout, not political arguments. Try to reach people who already care about issues to cast a ballot. Don’t make the conversation about Trump but what is at stake. Remember, this election is about who will control Congress. Talking about issues, not personalities.
There is a lot of misinformation circulating, don’t let it discourage you. There is already major dispute over voting rules, voter rolls, ballots, citizenship and election administration. Don’t let this cause you to remain silent.
Here are some ideas/questions you may use in talking with your family, friends and neighbors, etc.
- Is your economic situation getting better or worse?
- What is happening to health-care costs and availability?
- What’s going on with government spending and the national debt?
- Is the country being governed – competently or chaotically?
- Which candidates respect elections, the Constitution & rule of law?
Staying silent is not an option for 2026. Manpower is more important than money. Check these ideas out.

- Working with a local campaign can accomplish more than hundreds of angry social-media posts
- Help people who have trouble voting (elderly, new residents, first-time voters, people unsure if they’re still registered
By not staying silent you can make 2026 a referendum on “What kind of government do you want for the next two years?”
