There is always a hunger for more information especially if you believe it is being kept from you. That was the case during the Cold War and is today with the Epstein files.
Europe was divided by the iron curtain not only physically but intellectually. No combat would take place along this frontier. Instead, it was a battle for information.
There were no books, newspapers or radios. The border was closed and heavily guarded. Without information this censorship raised questions and a greater quest for information. The USA devised a solution known as the “CIA book program,” to undermine Soviet censorship and inspire revolt by offering different ideas and culture. The secret mission was to win the cold war with forbidden literature.
Just as in Poland, when knowledge and information are kept secret people clammer to know! Keeping the Epstein files secret only increases the wondering minds of Americans and more chaos.
To placate the thirst for information, books were smuggled aboard trucks and yachts, dropped from balloons, hidden aboard trains, and stowed in the traveler luggage. It was believed that “truth is contagious” and that literature could counteract the Soviet’s repression. Nowhere were books welcomed more warmly than in Poland.
When you don’t know…you imagine all kinds of things. That’s what’s taking place now with the famous Epstein files. We live in a time when not knowing threatens democracy no different than Poland.
The Epstein files may even reveal more information than those fighting for the release can imagine…or not. Powerful stories matter and so do pictures, if they are factual.
Releasing the Epstein files could or could not have serious consequences on the future of Trump and his Project 2025. More importantly the contents could return our country as it was envisioned 249 years ago…and we all need to know.
