Humpy Dumpty

Mar 20, 2025

Humpy Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpy Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpy together again.

Humpy Dumpty is a character in an English nursey rhyme…today Humpy Dumpty is our American government & democracy.

Since January 20th we have witnessed the falling of government programs important to the lives of many.  And like the Humpy Dumpty fall our democracy our is being broken. The scariest challenge is to the “rule of law.”  If our Founders were to witness what is taking place they might considering returning to England.

Most concerning is the lack of a challenge by Members of Congress.  They seem willing to give up the “power of the purse?”  Why are they afraid to fight to save programs they created and funded?  They stand by and watch them fall until the programs cannot be put together again.

Have they decided its worth sacrificing their values & principles to stay in Congress?

No doubt opposition to the Musk/Trump administration is risky.  It’s been well established Trump operates based on creating fear…and disorder.  It appears fear is worse than confronting those who elected them. It’s unbelievable Republican Members of Congress fear going home to hold “open forums”…because they would find their constituents are more willing to speak out than they are!

In normal times Democrats would be stepping forward to take advantage of the void.  However, they are still wandering the wilderness hunting for leaders, a message, and how to put Humpy Dumpty together again.

This leaves America…in the hands of her people.  That is why democracy must be defended by the people.  Our country cannot wait for the 2026 elections.

The people must increase public protests rather than hide like Members of Congress. The people must confront their representatives in Congress…or look for candidates from the Court House to the State House and the United States Capitol, candidates who will speak out.

It’s time to help put Humpy Dumpty together again.  We have learned citizens cannot depend upon the King.
