Worst Year or Worst Leader?

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

Weekly there is a person named as having the worst week in Washington.  Now as we near the end of 2010 Chris Cillizza editor of “The Fix”, a Washington Post political blog, presents “Who had the worst year in Washington?”

The honor goes to Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee.  I would nominate him as the Worst Leader ever put at the head of the Republican Party.

Regular readers of  phillipsbillboard know last March I wrote “Michael It’s Time to Go.”  He has never gotten the message.  Steele has even declared he wants a second term as Chairman.

Members of the Republican National Committee had better show him the door.

Confirmed: It’s Time to Go Michael

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Last March said “It’s Time to Go Michael.”  As each day passes it is even clearer this guy has to leave.  The election of 2012 is at our doorstep.  His own staff is revealing why he must depart.  More important than Michael Steele departing is the role Republican National Committee will play in removing Obama from The White House.  The NYT has the story today about the last staffer who outlines a case against Steele.  Read the five page letter in the New York Times link.

Michael Steele A Continual Drag

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

The Republican National Committee convenes this week for its summer meeting.  With all the attention on the mid-term election the national press will be out in full force.  The last thing needed is another Michael Steele story as the GOP finalizes plans for the fall battle.

It has already happened.  Last evening  POLITICO reported Steele is now courting diplomats.

What is this guy up too?  Maybe he is after a job – let’s hope he gets an offer.

Michael It’s Time To Go

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele is dragging Republicans down and draining its bank account.  He has created controversy since his election more than a year ago.

That’s not bad enough he even wrote a book in which he says Republicans will not in 2010 take over the U. S. House of Representatives.  His actions and those of his cohorts if continued will certainly help make his prediction come true.

Worst still opportunity for Republicans is knocking on the door as we approach the 2010 midterm election.

Steele is now presiding over a sex club fiasco by someone using Republican National Committee (RNC) money.

When Steele was elected the RNC had $22 million on hand.  In the Federal Election Commission report for the period just ended he reported less than $10 million after raising $96 million during the period.

National news accounts say the Republican National Committee is losing loyal high dollar contributors.  I expect after the sex club episode the small donors will say – no thank you.

With the opportunity President Obama has given Republicans to gain or take control of Congress the members of the Republican National Committee should remove Steele at the first opportunity.

Better yet Michael it’s time to go.
