Governor Tomblin’s birthday and Speaker Thompson got the present…Teacher Unions endorsed Thompson for Governor…teachers got their present when Thompson pushed their pay raise…in legislative session.

ON THE OTHER HAND…Governor Tomblin had a huge birthday [fund raiser] party last night…friends report over 200 attending…with significant political leaders, lobbyists…and the leader of the Affiliated Construction Workers…important coal leaders {Raney & Hamilton]…wife Joanne made a speech…even had a cake.

Republican Betty Ireland scored a big hit…the state Farm Bureau endorsed her bid for Governor…expect that development hurt Sen. Barnes…he has been counting on rural voters…especially in his senatorial district.

THE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN PRIMARY…Thompson has been put back in the chase…there are a lot of teachers….as always turnout is the key…but Tomblin unknown before becoming acting Governor has impressed…incumbency is a real advantage…stay tuned the campaign is just starting.

A long time observer called to say with State Treasurer Perdue, Speaker Thompson and Governor Tomblin fighting for votes in Southern counties…the real race could be between SOS Tennant and Senator Kessler in the North…the more you look at the picture…the more ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

Charleston DM reporter Jared Hunt reminds in today’s edition…only 12 percent [149,000] voted in the August special Senate election…with six Democrats after the prize just 16,000 votes could do it7,000 might win the GOP primary.
